Plein Air Easton is considered the top plein air event in the country, with over one thousand applicants from around the world vying for an opportunity to paint there. Tilghman Island, about a 45 minute drive from Easton, is a prized  fishing village within the permitted painting area, and this draw bridge is central to the village and ALWAYS gives the right-of-way to the local fisherman, known as "watermen." I thought that the sculptural qualities of the bridge and control tower were fascinating, and chose to focus on these operations as a way to emphasize the watermen without doing another typical "boat painting."
